We do not participate in any insurance plans, including BlueCross and Medicare. We ask for payment in full at time of service, and provide you with a coded receipt that you can use to file for reimbursement. The extent to which you will be reimbursed depends on the out-of-network benefits of your specific plan, whether you have met your deductible, and your co-payments and co-insurance. You can find out about your out-of-network benefits by calling the Customer Service telephone number given on your insurance card.
Services provided by Dr. Sharp that are not face-to-face are not covered by most insurance policies; this would include phone and Skype consultations and the time he spends reviewing information and writing treatment plans or letters, or phone calls for referral or coordination of care. We do not charge for brief communications by phone or email (those that take less than 5 minutes).
Health Care Savings
We encourage you to work with your employer to develop either a Health Savings Account (HSA) or a Healthcare Reimbursement Account (HRA), as further savings on out-of-pocket expenses associated with holistic health care can be realized through these plans. Nutritional supplements, for example, are not generally covered by insurance plans, however your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Healthcare Reimbursement Account (HRA) likely can save you money on supplement costs. We will work with you to provide documentation necessary for reimbursement.
We appreciate that unexpected disruptions of schedules occur, and excuse one missed appointment per year. Beyond that, we charge for missed appointments. We consider a missed appointment to be one that was canceled with less than 48 hours prior notice.
We comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Act guidelines. We provide a HIPAA-compliant patient portal through this website which allows us to communicate more securely than through e-mail. Patients are able to direct questions to Dr. Sharp or Kathleen Williams through password-protected secure accounts. We also provide access to all test results through this portal and you can request prescription refills and appointments as well. These services are provided without charge to our patients.
